Energetic Macroscopic Representation of a fuel cell system

Objective

This lecture deals with the Energetic Macroscopic Representation of fuel cell system for an electric vehicle application.

 

Outline

Fuel Cell Systems (FCS) are considered as one possibility for clean, sustainable and efficient electrical power supply for future electric vehicle (EV).
To demonstrate the value of Energetic Macroscopic representation (EMR) for FCS description and control some basic aspects of EMR and their connection to the FCS will be discussed. Furthermore to adept EMR to FCS some additional considerations are made.
Based on this a first model of a simplified FCS comprising anode, cathode, electrochemic conversion and temperature regulation will be presented. Modeling results will be compared to measurements.
Finally an aspect of FCS control will be introduced.
